The following article was reported in The Queens Courier, in New York detailing a couple’s experience in selecting the right band for their wedding at Hank Lane Music.
“My friend Mark Mazor had one of the nicest weddings I have been to. The one thing I clearly remember was the music, which had everyone up on the dance floor the entire night. So I gave him a call to get the details. He told me that the band was from Hank Lane Music.”
The following video is currently featured on Entertainment Tonight’s website as an inside look into the wedding of LaLa Vazquez and Carmelo Anthony. Our band can be heard playing for the wedding ceremony, and then playing dance music at the end of the video!
Hank Lane Music performed at the wedding of NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets and his longtime fiancee, the former MTV and VH1 personality LaLa Vazquez who were married Saturday night at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York before a who’s who from the sports world and show biz. There was a fourteen piece Hank Lane band who performed in front of a guest list that included the bride’s best friends singer Kelly Rowland and tv personality Kim Kardashian along with current and past NBA stars including, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Chris Paul, the groom’s teammate Kenyon Martin and his former Syracuse college coach Jim Boeheim and the latest New York Knick Amar’e Stoudemire. Also on hand were director Spike Lee, Lisa and Brittny Gastineau, R&B singer Ciara, actor and rapper Ludacris, rapper Fabolous and tennis champion Serena Williams.
Hank Lane Music also performed for the wedding ceremony with a beautiful six member string ensemble that included violin, viola, cello, harp, flute and keyboard. The R&B singer Kenny Lattimore sang his hit song “For You” as Carmelo and LaLa walked down the aisle to huge applause. The recessional, “As” was performed as a duet with Kenny Lattimore and our Kevin Osborne with additional backup vocals. Kevin also sang the couple’s First Dance, “So Amazing” by Luther Vandross. The band opened up with a long hot dance set playing classic Soul and R&B from Stevie Wonder to Michael Jackson. DJ Clue played later in the evening. The entire evening was put together by celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss. Mindy told the band, “They love you!” She said that ‘Melo commented that he had to look up during the First Dance to be sure that it was the band singing and not a recording. That’s the ultimate compliment! Kim Kardashian tweeted, “The ceremony was amazing!”

“…I decided to do some real-life wedding wine research. I would call a few wedding venues around the country and also, accompanied by my colleague, check out some top wedding destinations in New York. We chose the Pierre Hotel and the University Club, two classic wedding venues.
The Pierre Hotel’s catering director, Herb Rose, had the brisk and efficient manner of a man who could do everything well. Mr. Rose showed us rooms, photo albums and offered advice on flowers and bands. (Of the former, he said, “the cost can be infinite” and of the latter, he counseled, “The best is Harris Lane.”) As to wine, Mr. Rose had this piece of advice. “Be careful you don’t spend too much money. Remember it’s not some fancy tasting party. Don’t waste your money on great Bordeaux.” The wines that the Pierre Hotel used for weddings came from Connecticut, said Mr. Rose, who knew the winery’s owner back when she had a flower shop near the hotel.”
Band leader Michael Hart & Former New York Yankees star Bernie Wiiliams
Hank Lane’s Michael Hart Band performed last night at a benefit for the Rainforest Alliance at the American Museum of Natural History. More than 500 guests attended the black tie gala held under the giant blue whale in the Hall of Oceanic Life. Hank Lane Music shared the stage for a special performance by former New York Yankees star Bernie Williams with his jazz band. Bernie played two songs off of his newly released CD. As he said to Michael and the band after finishing his set, “Not bad for a jock, huh?” We couldn’t agree more. Bernie was as nice in person as could be. Soft spoken, humble and a real gentleman. A Hank Lane classical Spanish guitarist played for the cocktail hour. Michael Hart’s band played a variety of American and Latin pop for the diverse international audience in attendance.
The Rainforest Alliance seeks to conserve biodiversity through its programs in sustainable forestry, agriculture, tourism and climate in over 76 countries worldwide. According to Tensie Whelan, president of the Rainforest Alliance, “The companies and individuals honored during our annual gala are those that show leadership in their efforts to make farms, forests and tourism operations more sustainable so that future generations may also enjoy them.”
