2013 was an incredible year for everyone at Hank Lane Music. We had the honor of performing at The Knot Gala, we were featured in publications from the New York Post to New York Weddings, we received awards, and we happily shared the stage with Lionel Richie, Bon Jovi, and many others. Beyond these exciting accomplishments, we also had the great pleasure of providing music for countless galas, weddings, and parties of all kinds.
The Hank Lane Music team ended this banner year by performing in cities up and down the East Coast to ring in 2014. Hank Lane bands entertained revelers from New York City to Palm Beach, including the likes of Rod Stewart, Woody Allen, Donald Trump and family.
New Year’s Eve was truly a spectacular evening for our musicians, and we look forward to many celebrations to come. Here’s wishing all of you a happy and healthy New Year!

We are honored to be featured by our friends at Style Me Pretty! This lovely couple celebrated at Angel Orensanz, with photography by Michael Falco of Christian Oth Studios, and planning by Amy Shey Jacobs of Chandelier Events. The Hank Lane Rock Orchestra created a memorable ceremony for the bride and groom. Special thanks to Kevin Osborne at the Henry Marks Agency!
Kevin Osborne helped us assemble an ensemble orchestra to play classical arrangements of our favorite songs, including Jonathan’s processional – “Across the Universe” by the Beatles. As a surprise for Jonathan, I walked down the aisle to string version of “Divided Sky” by Phish, our favorite band.

Last night was the long-anticipated and spectacular annual Gala hosted by The Knot. Industry professionals from far and wide were in attendance to celebrate Bridal Fashion Week and be rewarded for their hard work. Hank Lane Music had the honor of providing entertainment for the evening, including DJ Allison Kay of More Than Music, a “Rock of Ages” tribute band, and several other ensembles. Henry Marks Agency band leaders Bobby Attiko and Kevin Osborne also performed. Special thanks to Fusion Lighting, for tricking out the enormous event space to create the perfect ambience, Dane Wright, and Creative Games Inc. for creating an innovative live Instagram feed projected onto screens throughout the library. Over 1,000 guests were in attendance, including Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici of The Bachelor, Randy Fenoli of Say Yes to the Dress, and Pnina Tornai, wedding dress designer extraordinaire. 12-foot mannequins modeling wedding dresses, designed by Gala planner and celebrity wedding planner Brian Worley of YourBASH!, decorated the space.

The Knot PR Director, Carly, gave us a glowing review. Thank you Carly, and everyone else on The Knot team!
Harris & Marcus,
Where do I begin? Last night literally KICKED ASS. Everyone had the best time and it was due to your entertainment on every level. The music was on another level – everyone gave 10000000000% and you could tell. From Rock of Ages to Bobby to the horns coming down the stairs, it was just unreal. And the lighting, the video wall, Instagram feed, and videos literally just sealed the deal to a perfect entertainment experience.
I can’t thank you both enough for working with us to make this a dream experience. This party was by far our best gala and a full on party because of your enthusiasm, energy, and amazing talent. I look forward to working with you both in the future.
Carly Zipp, PR Director, XO Group Inc., The Knot
And a note from event designer Brian Worley:

Truly a fantastic evening of entertainment and y’all blew everyone away! I want to thank you for the bottom of my heart for pulling out all the stops and just nailing what will be VERY difficult to beat in the future! You have the most incredible team and such a huge array of talented performers! I look forward to working with you many times in the future! Y’all really ROCKED it out!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Today marks Hank Lane Music‘s 35th year in the music business. The company was founded in 1978 by veteran band leader and performer Hank Lane, his wife Deeann Cowart, and bandleader Marc Stevens when they opened Hank Lane Music & Productions in New York City hoping to make their mark in the private party industry. For now over thirty-five years, the concept behind Hank Lane Music has been to make sure clients could enjoy music performed the way it should sound as they celebrated their own weddings or other private personal, corporate or charitable events. Against industry practice, Hank believed the only way this could be accomplished was with “set” bands who worked together all of the time. Every Hank Lane Orchestra possesses a special blend of youth, elegance, and excitement, with each band being equally adept in all styles of music.
In 1987, Hank Lane expanded to meet the growing demand for DJ entertainment by forming More Than Music, a DJ and party entertainment service that offers hot young DJ’s, MTV style dancers, and party entertainers to their clients. In 1996, Hank Lane Music acquired Fusion Lighting, a lighting, event design, and audio-visual company, which visually enhances the performance of both the company’s bands and their DJ’s.
Today, Hank Lane Music is the exclusive music provider for many of New York’s leading hotels and catering facilities, with an impressive client list to match. Hank Lane Music is constantly expanding and adapting, and continues to serve as a model of innovation in the music industry.
Happy birthday, Hank Lane Music!

Last weekend, Hank Lane Music had the honor of sharing the stage with the legendary Lionel Richie at a wedding. Lionel performed “Truly” for the couple’s first dance, followed by an amazing set of his hit songs. He then turned it over to an all-star Hank Lane Music line-up to rock the rest of the night away. The gorgeous event at a private home was brought to life with a great team, featuring lighting design by Marcus of Fusion Lighting, flowers by Ed Libby Events, a cake by Sylvia Weinstock, and photos by Brian and Andy Marcus of Fred Marcus Photography.

Hank Lane receiving ISES "Hall of Legends" Award
Last Thursday marked a historic evening for Hank Lane and his namesake company. Hank was honored at the annual ISES Big Apple Awards, where he was inducted into the prestigious Hall of Legends. Fellow Hall of Legends member Harriette Rose Katz of Gourmet Advisory gave a beautiful speech welcoming Hank to the exclusive club. Hank Lane Music and More Than Music staff members were in attendance to celebrate. Other awards were presented in various categories to nominees excelling in private event planning, and Thomas Preti of TPC Events was inducted alongside Hank.
The event took place at the beautiful waterfront venue Liberty Warehouse, where festive Hank Lane steel drum and specialty ensembles, as well as a cocktail duo, entertained the guests before, after, and during the awards.

The highly-anticipated Tony Awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, aired on CBS last night. Surprise performances and a highly entertaining show accompanied the awards ceremony, where Kinky Boots took home the coveted Best Musical award. This accolade was accepted by composer Cyndi Lauper, the first solo woman to win the Tony for best music and lyrics. With viewership on the rise, CBS has agreed to broadcast the annual awards through 2018.
After a thrilling evening, everyone continued to celebrate at the Plaza Hotel with the Hank Lane Orchestra, as has been the case for the past three recent years. An all-star Hank Lane band, directed by Michael Hart and featuring singer extraordinaire Kevin Osborne and the Dylan Matthews band horn section played popular standards early on and then pulsating Top 40 hits until 2 am. Many celebrities were spotted at the big bash, including Cuba Gooding Jr., Sigourney Weaver, nominee Billy Magnussen, Martin Short, Pippin star Matthew James Thomas, Chaplin star and Best Actor nominee Rob McClure, Kinky Boots’ Featured Actress nominee Annaleigh Ashford, Best Score nominee Benj Pasek of A Christmas Story’s composer duo, Best Featured Actress nominee Shalita Grant, Will Chase hand-in-hand with Debra Messing, Mike Tyson, and Angela Bassett with husband and Tony-winner Courtney B. Vance.
To quote ABC News,
Wins or losses, the guests at the Tony gala seemed intent on having a wonderful time. One of them was Billy Magnussen, who plays a studly young boyfriend to Sigourney Weaver’s character in “Vanya and Sonia.” He had lost out to Vance but couldn’t stop dancing (if you wanted to interview him, you had to twirl along.) “Who gets to dance at the Tonys?” he asked joyfully and rather rhetorically. “This guy!”
Clearly, fun was had by all on the historic evening. We would like to wish all the nominees and winners a heartfelt congratulations from Hank Lane Music!
