In 1978, after nearly ten years of leading and performing in dance bands at weddings, social events and corporate functions, musician Hank Lane, his wife Deeann Cowart and bandleader Marc Stevens, opened Hank Lane Music in New York City with the goal of making their mark in the private party industry. For over twenty-five years, Hank Lane Music & Productions has been an enterprise that encompasses a variety of entertainment services and products for weddings, private parties and events that includes more than twenty "set" dance bands and orchestras, a thriving DJ company, and an event design and lighting division.

The founding concept behind Hank Lane Music was to make sure clients could enjoy music performed the way it should sound as they celebrated their own weddings and other monumental events. Against industry practice, Hank believed the only way this could be accomplished was with "set" bands who work together all of the time. Hank Lane Orchestra possesses a special blend of youth, elegance and excitement with each band being equally adept in all styles of music including Classical, Swing, Big Band, Ballroom, Jazz, Motown, Rhythm & Blues, Rock from each era, Disco, Contemporary, Top 40 and Hip Hop, making them New York's most versatile dance bands on the market.

Ultimately, Hank Lane Music became one of the most recognized names in live bands and party entertainment in and around the New York metropolitan area performing at notable events such as American Ballet Theatre, American Cancer Society, Gilda's Club, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mt. Sinai Hospital Crystal Ball, the New York Philharmonic's Opening Night Gala, Sean (Diddy) Combs' 35th birthday bash and the weddings of celebrities such as Vera Wang, Kenneth Cole, Elie Tahari, Ivanka Trump, JJ Philbin (daughter of television personality Regis Philbin), Liza Huber (daughter of actress Susan Lucci), Eddie Murphy and Donald Trump. Hank Lane's Michael Herman Band has performed at the White House. Hank Lane bands have also garnered national recognition with several appearances each on NBC's "Today Show" on the popular morning program's "Today Throws A Wedding" segment and on cable television's We Channel series, "My Fair Wedding with David Tutera."

In 1987, Hank Lane expanded to meet the growing demand for DJ entertainment forming More Than Music, a DJ and party entertainment service that offers hot young DJ's, MTV style dancers and party entertainers to their clients. In 1990, the company opened a New York City office making it more accessible for clients to meet to discuss specific details of their event. In 1996, Hank Lane Music acquired Fusion Enterprises, a lighting, event design and audio-visual company, which visually enhances the performance of both the company's bands and their DJ's.

The company's roster of dance bands feature some of the most popular musical groups on the New York private party scene including the Bobby Attiko Band, Bleecker Street Band, Downtown Band, Downtown Express, East End Revue, Erik Marshall Band, Ernest Mills Band, Park Avenue Band, Frank Michaels Band, Hank Lane Revue, Harris Lane Band, Jeff Lubin Band, Kenny Ford Band, L'Evation, Madison Avenue Band, Marc Stevens Band, Michael Hart Band, Mike Herman Band, Paul Richards Band, Pete Saunders Band, Paula Atherton Band, Rhythm Revue, Riverside Drive, Russ Bennett Band, South Side Revue, Steve Delisi Band and the West End Revue.

Today, Hank Lane Music is the exclusively recommended music supplier for an impressive list of New York City's leading hotels and catering facilities including, Cipriani 42nd Street, Cipriani Wall Street, The Pierre, The Plaza, The St. Regis and the Waldorf-Astoria. Its bands perform at hundreds of private parties annually that include weddings and social parties, corporate events for Fortune 500 companies and some of the city's most prestigious charitable organizations.
